| It's
not every day that America's preeminent composer turns ninety-five.
To celebrate his birthday and the release of Sospeso's first
CD/DVD, we took the F train to the Angel Orensanz Foundation
Center on Manhattan's Lower East Side to produce a concert of
several of Mr. Carter's recent works and pieces written for
the occasion by an international group of composers. The Arditti
Quartet joined Sospeso for their first appearance in New York
in several years. Irvine Arditti sat next to a photographer
named Robin
Damore on the plane from London to New York and convinced
her to document the concert. |
