Sospeso teams up with
Zilvinas for the Sospeso Cabaret
program on April 16, 2005 at studioseven.
Zilvinas
represents perhaps the first Lithuanian DJ team, which started promoting
house music there in the beginning of the last decade, under the
Disco Mafia label. Starting at small bars and cafes in the secluded
corners of the old town, it moved to fancy restaurant basements
and other untraditional places until Disco Mafia became the way
of spending free time for fashionable clubkids.
In 2000,
Zilvinas left for New York, where he continues to push a soulful
sound of house and broken beats throughout the city's best parties,
lounges, loft spots and art events. He has shared the decks with
such celebrated DJs as Dimitri (Dee-Lite), Nickodemus & Mariano
(Turntables On The Hudson), Alex Gifford (Propellerheads), Sean
B (The Fader), Adam Goldstone (Nuphonic), Jef K (Silver Networks,
Crack n' Speed), Neil Aline (Chez Music), Darshan (Metro Area),
and others. He is also the co-founder of the So-Called Records label
and a founder of Bagpak Music publishing company. Among other works
is the highly aclaimed 12" release on Redbud
Records and collaborations with fashion designers such as Victor
de Souza and Ermenegildo Zegna, as well as soundtracks for video
projects of Jonas Mekas (the godfather of American avant-garde filmmaking).
