Cited by the New York Times as a
"virtuosic
percussionist," Thomas Kolor specializes in 20th and 21st century music. He
holds a BM in music education from William Paterson College, and an MM from the
Juilliard School.
Mr Kolor has appeared throughout the world as a member
of the Talujon Percussion Quartet, the New Jersey Percussion
Ensemble, and Ensemble 21. He is a frequent guest of the Group for Contemporary
Music, Speculum Musicae, the Da Capo Chamber Players, Continuum, Newband,
tje New
Millennium Ensemble, and the ST-X (Xenakis) Ensemble, and
was a regular performer
on Columbia University's "New Music for a New Century" series.
As a soloist, Mr Kolor has given dozens of premieres,
including the European premiere of Milton Babbitt's
Beaten Paths for solo
marimba, and has been presented in such venues as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie
Hall, New York's Museum of Modern Art, Holland's State Museum at Amsterdam,
Princeton University, and the University of California at Berkeley.
Mr Kolor has recorded Milton Babbitt's
Beaten Paths
for Koch International Classics, and has also recorded for Mode, New World,
Naxos, CRI, and RCA Classics, as well as for French, Danish, and American
national radio stations.
