Laura Frautschi,
who holds degrees
from Juilliard
and Harvard, is a
soloist and
chamber musician
who has appeared
with orchestras
and at major
festivals in the
United States and
Japan. She made
her Japanese
debut in 1994
with a solo
recital in
Tokyo's Casals
Hall, followed by
a national tour
with the Festival
Strings
Lucerne.
Ms. Frautschi has
received numerous
awards, including
a gold medal at
the Cours
Superieure of the
Conservatoire
Nationale de
Nimes, France, at
the age of 12, at
the Japanese
International
Violin
Competition, and
from the Newberry
Library in
Chicago. She has
collaborated with
such artists as
André Previn, Yo
Yo Ma, and Ani
Kavafian.
