He has concertized in Japan, Australia, Europe, the Far East, Central America, and throughout the United States and Canada. Hailed as ‘enormously adept’ by the Observer Tribune, as ‘an artist able to cast a spell’ by The New Yorker, Mr Finckel has appeared as a guest artist with such acclaimed ensembles as the Tokyo String Quartet, the Orpheus Chamber Ensemble, and Speculum Musicae; he has collaborated with artists including Jan de Gaetani, Walter Trampler, Gilbert Kalish, and Nancy Allen.

Currently cellist of the Manhattan String Quartet and of the New York New Music Ensemble, with whom he appears on chamber music series worldwide, Mr Finckel has appeared as the Casals, Santa Fe, Ravinia, Medeira Bach, and Norfolk Chamber Music festivals. Born into a family of cellists, Mr Finckel began his studies with his father, George Finckel, and was a recipient of many prizes in his native New England.
