Cécile
Daroux is regarded as a
prominent interpreter of
classical flute repertoire
and a young ambassadress of
twentieth century
music. She studied
flute, chamber music, and
music history at the
Conservatoire National
Supérieur de Paris under the
great French flutist
Pierre-Yves Artaud, and she
continues to study with other
masters (including Debost,
Nicolet, and Jean Pierre
Rampal). Highly
regarded for her technical
and stylistic maturity, she
won several prizes at major
international contests,
including the First Prize of
Interpretation at the
Darmstadt International
Competition.
Ms
Daroux has been invited by
important music festivals
worldwide including the
Salzburg Festival, and others
in London, Berlin, Prague,
Budapest, and Avignon.
She has also appeared as a
soloist at important Paris
venues including the Salle
Gaveau, the Cité de la
Musique, and she was invited
to give a solo recital at the
Festival Présence at
Radio-France.
Deeply
committed to the contemporary
repertoire, she has worked
closely with Berio, Stockhausen, Jolas,
Kurtag;
numerous composers have
written works for her.
She also crosses musical
boundaries, having performed
with various artists in other
fields, notably Sun Ra.
