The pianist Gloria Cheng is a frequent guest
artist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and its New Music Group. Her New York
debut took place at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 1993. Composers who
have written for her include John Adams, Pierre
Boulez, Terry Riley,
Esa-Pekka
Salonen, and Andrew Waggoner. Solo recordings include music by Olivier Messiaen
on Koch, and piano works by John Adams and Terry Riley on Telarc.
Ms Cheng holds an economics
degree from Stanford University, and graduate degree in
music from UCLA and
USC.
