Sospeso's covered a lot of ground over the past four seasons:
enough ground that Harvey Weinstein convinced us to split
our fifth anniversary concert into two parts.
Once again, we 'present the extreme edge of contemporary
music in an entirely new way.' And once again, a 'countdown
of ten works, played without pause, is articulated through
projected film, live video, and lights on the dark arena of
the stage.'
There are several differences from the last show, however.
Production desgner Jeff
Sugg will (hopefully) not be on grand jury duty this time,
so he can actually be there. Where the last show was long
and slow, this is short and quick. And the last show certainly
didn't have music by Brahms,
to say nothing of a thoroughly unauthorized 'instrumental
remix' of songs by Björk:
thank goodness for our pro bono lawyers.
