‘Art in general seems to be a basic definition of being human.  One might as well ask, “Why breathe?”’   (Brian Ferneyhough)

Sospeso devotes two evenings to the work of Brian Ferneyhough, the most controversial composer of his generation.  Rarely performed, his music represents the extreme of instrumental virtuosity.

In this first of two concerts Sospeso devotes to his music this season, we present works for solo instruments, including the American premiere of the new solo violin work Unsichtbare Farben (Invisible Colors). The composer himself joins us at the concert to speak about his music.

On Saturday, two days after this concert, Sospeso performs a retrospective of his larger chamber works at Weill Recital at Carnegie Hall.

Don't miss these two evenings devoted to this fascinating composer, in New York's first retrospective of his work.
