The Ensemble Sospeso is delighted to present new compositions under the direction of guest conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, the Finnish composer and esteemed director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Three recent works showcase the composer's colorful and arresting visions, including the American premiere of the cello concerto Mania, and the Piano Sonata performed in New York for the first time by guest artist Gloria Cheng.

This program, the second in Carnegie Hall's Making Music 2001 series, also features a conversation between the composer/conductor and Ara Guzelimian, the series' moderator.
