The Jack Straw Foundation’s Sonarchy broadcast on KCMU 90.3 FM brings experimental rock, jazz, and classical music to Seattle audiences every Saturday night. The music promises to be the most experimental yet for the Ensemble Sospeso.
Joshua Cody’s
Quiet Days on the Faubourg Saint-Antoine calls for an unlimited number of instruments improvising within compositional constraints.
Kirk Noreen sets the work of the avant-garde poet Jackson Mac Low for soprano, guitar, piano, and contrabass.
Perhaps the most exciting feature of the broadcast will be the first recording of
György Ligeti’s
Fragmente for chamber orchestra, an unusual work of twelve minutes (and eleven measures!) scored for three contrabasses, harpsichord, harp, piano, and winds. Seating in the studio audience is by invitation only. The performance will be simultaneously broadcast on KCMU 90.3 FM, from 11:00 PM to midnight.
